Reggae Pioneers to Perform in Harlesden

 Posted On 12 November 2019

Brent’s rich reggae heritage will be explored in The Bass Weekender (3 - 4 October 2020) – a weekend-long take-over of Harlesden’s high street, bars, community centres and churches showcasing performances from some of the borough's finest reggae and bass pioneers, from legends like Janet Kay, Don Letts, General Levy and Big Zeeks to emerging artists.

Also in 2020, Trojan Records will invite DJs and producers from the borough to create a remix of a classic track from their world-renowned catalogue. The label cemented the careers of ska and reggae heroes from Jimmy Cliff to Bob Marley.

The No Bass Like Home project will also see memorabilia, images and stories gathered from the local community – from DJs and musicians to shop owners and club promoters – to create a new online archive documenting Brent’s unique musical history for a new generation.

The programme for Brent 2020, London Borough of Culture was unveiled in Kilburn this morning. Click here for details.
