The Museum of All Brent Life
15 May 2020
Local memories, stories and myths curated in libraries across the borough
Local memories, stories and myths from Brent will be celebrated in The Museum of All Brent Life – a living museum taking place in ten libraries in ten neighbourhoods across the borough: Barham Community Library, Cricklewood Library, Ealing Road Library, Harlesden Library, Kensal Rise Library, Kilburn Library, Kingsbury Library, Preston Community Library, Wembley Library and The Library at Willesden Green.
Each library has identified a story, person or object which represents their local area, and commissioned an artist to explore it further. In Kingsbury, in partnership with Create London and Studio Voltaire, the painter Dawn Mellor will create a large-scale mural celebrating the life of local hero George Michael, who went to school in the area.
A ‘think tank for the commons’ taking place at Kilburn Library, led by artist Ruth Beale, will provide a forum for young people to voice their views, while at Wembley Library artist Dan Mitchell will create a visual installation using quotes from JG Ballard.
