06 July 2020 — 08 December 2020

For 2020 and supported by Brent 2020 Culture Fund, Word Up has a programme of workshops and stellar live events online (during Covid-19) and at The Royal Oak - continuing the conversation with Harlesden that began in 2015.

Harlesden’s homegrown spoken word night, Word Up, is back as part of the Brent 2020, London Borough of Culture programme. Same love, same video quality, same hat to drop your name into - and add the very best of the UK spoken word scene, along with artists with musical elements to close our live shows, happening across 2020.

"We are back with a bang and, as part of this project, we will continue to champion emerging talent through our open mic and offer a programme of creative workshops at Harlesden Library to offer development opportunities to Brent residents. Our workshops will focus on performance, writing, editing, found poetry and artist self care. They will be led by leading, established artists and writers."

All events are FREE, but the workshops will require booking to secure a place.
